Optimus Gen 3: Late Again, Still the Main Character

Fremont production slips to late July or August. The robot is not shipping on time. The narrative ships daily.

Tesla's Optimus Gen 3 ramp at Fremont has slid to a late July or August target, which anyone fluent in Tesla time had already penciled in for October. Production had not started as of mid-June. The stock does not care. The stock has never cared. Optimus is not a product line yet, it is a story stock inside a story stock.

Optimus is not a product line yet. It is a story stock inside a story stock.

To be fair to the bulls: the ambition is real, the vertical integration is real, and if any company can brute-force its way down a robotics cost curve it is the one that did it twice with cars and batteries. The humanoid opportunity is genuinely enormous, and Tesla's manufacturing base is a real advantage no startup can match.

But the honest scoreboard today reads: Figure has paid deployments and a line running one unit per hour, Atlas fleets are committed to Hyundai plants, Unitree is flooding the low end, and Optimus is guiding to next quarter. In robotics, like in trading, the tape beats the thesis. We will update when the tape changes.
